Codec Pack Standard was designed to give DirectShow-enabled Windows players broad format support through a straightforward installer.
The final Cole2k release included common playback and encoding components such as ffdshow, LAV Video and Audio, XviD, x264 VFW, Lagarith, AC3Filter, LAME ACM, AAC ACM, Haali Media Splitter, LAV Splitter and DirectVobSub.
Historical release
The final Cole2k Standard page documented version 8.0.6 for older Windows systems. The original package and its regional mirrors are now considered archival rather than current software.
Why the download changed
Media Player Codec Pack Standard is the maintained continuation for users who want the current standard package. The download button therefore resolves to the current MPCP installer instead of an obsolete Cole2k mirror.
